Hygge Valentine

I am making a little blanket. It’s such a simple pattern, the trusted garter stitch!

I am making this for myself. I usually don’t knit for myself, but in this case I am. I have a bigger picture in mind. My Hygge future. At the moment life is nuts and I am not exactly where I want to be. The hope is that I can decorate my future home with this lovely little blanket. That I can wrap my daughter in it. Or place it on the sofa.  That my husband could snuggle with it too. I dream of the colors and the future.

Sometimes I get into knitting ruts. Does that ever happen to you? I start a project and then I don’t touch it for some time. I need a deadline, maybe.

If you ever need a quick pick me up! Then this book is your pal! I love this little book. Marisa Anne is truly a creative and lovely soul. This book will guide you to finding your creative voice. I love the pictures in this book too. It’s so colorful and happy.  I am especially drawn to the simplicity. It’s easy to read, as though you were talking to a dear friend.

Thank you, Marissa Anne for this lovely book.

Words that resonate with me today, “start small”

“Don’t wish me happiness
I don’t expect to be happy all the time…
It’s gotton beyond that somehow.
Wish me courage and strength and a sense of humor.
I will need them all.”

Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea

Lately, I’ve been thinking of the ocean, of sand, and shells, of the sun. I’ve been thinking of simplicity.  I have also been thinking of ways that kindness can spread. Like a ripple. A simple smile, a compliment, or a letter.

Lessons learned form April: Put on that makeup it will make you feel better. You don’t need to, but pamper yourself a little. Lipstick is a girl’s best friend.

Cooking is therapy.

Coffee is important.

Talk to your friends.

Do your best.

Make time to read every day.

Don’t go to bed crying you’ll wake up with a headache.

Take each day as it comes.

Live in the moment.

Wear perfume. You’ll feel better. Read this. Don’t these ingredients just make you happy!

Fragrance Notes:

  • Top – pink peony, freesia, lychee
  • Middle – magnolia flower, lilly of the valley, rose
  • Base – cedarwood, amber, honey

Make your bed.

Wash your hands.

“To lose balance sometimes for love is part of living a balanced
Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything

I am focusing on balance today. I invite you (if there is anyone reading this) to think about balance today. Think about your scale.  What do you need to do to be more balanced today?

Life: My mother is asleep, and my daughter is watching tv. I am working.

Relationship: I texted my husband. I miss him.  I wish I was home.

Focus: On my daughter. I need to teach her and make sure she learns. That’s my biggest goal today. 😊

Goals: To be present, to be patient, and love. I will love with my full heart today.

“It calms me down right away, the quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there, not with those kind men in their nice suits, and that lovely smell of silver and alligator wallets. If I could find a real-life place that made me feel like Tiffany’s, then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name.”

Today I will allow myself the freedom to be me, with all my virtues and vices.

“An attitude of gratitude brings great things.”

I appreciate… my family. There support and love throughout my life.

I give thanks… to my mentors that have taught me so much.

I celebrate… my father for his patience and love.

I acknowledge… those that help make my world better. Doctors, Teachers, Friends.

I am fulfilled … with my life. I feel so lucky for all that I have been given.

I am content… with my body.
